Since becoming a full time blogger and being self-employed I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on my school days, especially my primary / elementary school days.
Every morning as I walk to my office I pass by my Primary School and it always brings back a lot of happy memories, I loved Primary School so much it was definitely a really happy time for me! As well as the happy memories though I always start thinking about how crazy it is that I had NO IDEA when I left primary school or even before I left that one day I would be a full time blogger working for myself… I don’t even think I knew what a blog was back then.
The first blog was created around 1997 I believe, so I would have been about 6, I definitely didn’t know what blogging was then! I didn’t even know how to use a computer.
Computers weren’t really a thing when I was a kid, we were taught how to use them a little bit in my last two years of Primary School but I don’t recall using them before that and there definitely wasn’t any internet involved in those lessons.
So I never would have imagined that one day I’d not only be working on a computer but that I’d be WORKING on the internet, the internet is my job, I work for myself, on the internet.
Back then I had no idea what my future was going to turn out like or what I’d be doing for a job, and now that this is my job I couldn’t even imagine doing any other job, I’ve never been happier.
Even when I was in high school I didn’t know much about the internet, I used it to Ask Jeeves stuff about my homework and from around the age of 14 I used MSN Messenger (R.I.P) to talk to my friends and that was it.
Myspace became a thing when I was 15 and it was Myspace that led me to discover blogging because I’d been trolled pretty hard on Myspace for sharing my emotions over something and I thought that there must be a way to write my feelings down and get them off my chest without people I know seeing them anyway long story short that’s how I found my previous blogging platform and that’s how my blog was born.
Even when I first started blogging I had no idea that this would one day be my job and that literally blows my mind!
I got a little bit side tracked there and rambled a bit but my point is that it blows my mind how I grew up not even knowing about the thing that I now do for a job, the one thing that makes me happier than anything else I’ve ever done, blogging has completely changed my life and I’ve only known about it for 8 of my 24 years!
It’s actually really exciting when you think about it, back then I didn’t know that this would be my future, so now what’s in my future that I don’t yet know about?!
Life is really weird, wonderful and exciting and nobody knows what’s around the corner and that’s fantastic!
Even right now, this post didn’t turn out how I’d planned haha but I like it, it’s some straight from my head word vomit but I think it expresses what I was going to try and say better than the structured post I’d planned…
