Life or Art? Art or Life?

Hey!

The other day I announced that I was bringing back the Book of Questions series in which I answer questions from the 1987 and 2013 Book of Questions by Gregory Stock PH.D! If you’d like to find out more about this series or catch up on posts from the series that you’ve missed then please click here!

In this post I’m going to be answering question 9 from the 1987 Book of Questions!

The question is…

On a typical Sunday 10,000 people visit the Louvre in Paris. If a wicked sorcerer threatened to vaporize all the museums visitors or all of its art, sparing one or the other based on your plea, which would you save? Assume the sorcerer will obliterate both the people and the art if you don’t choose.

As much as it pains me to say this I’d have to choose to have the art obliterated.

Nothing is more valuable than the lives of 10,000 people and all of the people who love them.

There is plenty of replicas of the art in the Louvre all around the world so people would still be able to the art just not the originals.

You’d never be able to see those 10,000 people again.

Which would you pick? Let me know in the comments below, on Twitter @MissCharlotteEm or on any of my other social media sites which you can find by clicking here!
