Just Keep Writing, Just Keep Writing – A Novel Journey #2

Hey!

A few weeks ago I wrote a blog post talking about how I’d started rewriting a story that I’d tried to write years ago but couldn’t get the ending right. (Click here to read that post)

In that post I stated that it was as if my main characters weren’t ready for their story to be told but it was as if they’d just come up and tapped me on the shoulder, said “we’re ready now” and gave me their full story.

I’d like to point out that when I say handed me their full story I don’t mean in the same manner in which certain internet personalities were handed their books, I’m actually writing mine.

It was an amazing feeling because I’m now able to start the story again from scratch.

This is something I worked on for years before resigning it to a USB stick in case I ever found the ending so being able to go back to it now feeling like I know the full story is something I’m absolutely loving.

I said in that post that I was going to start blogging more about my writing journey and so that’s what this post is.

I was reading through my previous version of this story and I saw that the word count was 48,893! I’d written so much of it and I don’t think I actually realised!

I am still completely rewriting from scratch though, the story has formed better in my mind now and it’s just a lot easier to start over again!

I haven’t had much time to actually sit and write lately because my little sisters came to visit and I’ve just been so busy I’ve barely had time to sit and blog! I have almost filled an entire notebook with ideas and sketches for the story though!

I’m going to start writing properly this week and I’ll try to do fortnightly updates on how I’m getting on and just generally rambling about the writing process much like I’ve just done in this blog post!

I think I’m possibly going to enjoy these posts more than you guys but it’s just nice to be able to document the process so that if my book ever does well I can look back at these times, equally if it fails I can look back and say “hey remember when you thought writing a book was a good idea? You tool.”

I’d just like to make it abundantly clear once again that I don’t currently have a publisher, I’m not building up to a book launch announcement or anything like that. I do one day hope to have my book published so one day I hope there will be a book launch announcement but as of 4th September 2015, I have no finished manuscript, no publisher and no book launch to announce.

I’ve decided to call this series “A Novel Journey” I haven’t 100% settled on that name but I’m about to publish the post and need to call it something!
