A few years ago somebody who means a lot to me lost somebody very dear to them. I wanted to help but I had absolutely no idea how, so naturally I wrote several poems about the matter..
This is one of the poems I wrote.
I’m sharing it because I had a conversation tonight that made me wish I still saw this person. Fact of life though, people who were around when you’re growing up don’t always make it to your adult life, despite how much you’d love them to still be around.
He’s not dead, we just don’t really get chance to see each other anymore.
Anyway. Here’s the poem.
I’ll Help You Mend.
I don’t know what to say to you
Nor do I know what I should do
I cannot help for I don’t understand
So instead I’ll take you by the hand
And promise you for now and always
I’ll be here for you when you need me
I’ll be the best friend that I can be
On that you can always depend
The most broken pieces of your heart
I promise I’ll help you mend.
