Yesterday I told you all I was going to be trying out the Headspace app to see if it helped me fall asleep because I suffer terribly with insomnia. If you didn’t see that post click here to read that first.
This is my review / feedback on Day One of headspace.
First of all let me say that I find the app incredibly easy to use, it has a really simple interface, super clear layout, nothing confusing at all.. (And trust me I’m easily confused!)
Before Day One starts a video plays that talks you through the programme and the best way to approach it, the video is 7 minutes long but it has some animations in it that I found really helpful, they also got me thinking about things. I won’t talk about them too much because I don’t want to give too much away for those of you who are thinking of trying the app.
So I watched the video and then it moved automatically into playing Day One of the programme.
The first thing I noticed was that the man who was speaking had a normal yet pleasant voice, there was no funny hypnosis type voice nothing weird, just a normal guy. He sounds like a softer spoken version of Wayne Goss.
The 10 minutes consists of just being guided through breathing exercises and focusing on noticing your body, that’s it, there’s no HOMMMMMMMM no weird noises or positions, sit down, squat down, lie down; just as long as your comfy you’re good to go!
I got that into it that the 10 minutes just flew by. (I actually had to play the app back again to make sure it was 10 minutes and not some kind of trick. Its actually 11 minutes long!)
Yes but Charlotte did it help you sleep I hear you ask!
Truthfully I didn’t fall asleep after the first listen however it did relax me an awful lot and I did feel really tired, when I played it again to make sure it was actually 10 minutes I did the exercises again, and fell asleep not long after the 10 minutes were up.
I’m not saying I found the miracle cure to insomnia, it could’ve just been that I was really tired yesterday, I’m really looking forward to trying Day Two tonight to see what happens next though!
Did any of you try it? Comment down below or tweet me @MissCharlotteEm and let me know! xo
